Molly M. Comin specializes in Tap Dance instruction; for over 27 years she has loved teaching many ages and levels in tap as well as pre-dance, intro ballet, and Broadway Jazz.  Studying locally since 1990 with Nancy Beckett and Shirley Kirkes-Mar, Molly has most recently extended her studies in Los Angeles with Linda Sohl-Ellison, Sarah Reich and Greg Poland.  Molly currently serves as a volunteer board member of Rhapsody In Taps and is the founder of NCDPAF’s Mercer-Sanchez Scholarship fund which honors ballroom master Frank Sanchez and the late Vaudevillian Bud Mercer as she supports young talented boys in their pursuit of careers in dance and the performing arts.  In a quest to create and nurture a community of tap dancers in San Luis Obispo County, Molly founded and currently facilitates the “Paso Robles Tap Jam” where members from all studios get together monthly with musicians to compose music inspired by improvisational tap combinations.  A true “Southern Belle” born in south-east Alabama, she grew up competing in etiquette, beauty and talent competitions as well as performing in local theatre productions.  A member of the Alabama Youth Ballet at age 9, Molly developed a strong appreciation for strict dance technique.  Under the tutelage of Diane Clouse and Tom McCauley, Molly developed a passion for tap that compelled her to participate and compete in numerous Dance Educators Conventions in Atlanta, New Orleans and New York.  Inspired by the choreography and discipline of Debbie Dee, Molly devised her own system of tap instruction.  She began teaching at the age of 16 focusing on precision and speed combined with a commitment to use current music that she often found more relative to her young students.  A true lover of the stage, Molly has been known to sing in, and even direct, choirs and children’s musicals.   She was a member of the cast of Pioneer Players’ production of “Annie” in 2003.  Molly offers instruction in etiquette, pageantry, interview, and public speaking; she enjoys dancing West Coast Swing with her husband Giovanni and has often competed and performed in Atascadero’s Friends of the Library fundraiser “Dancing with Our Stars”.  Molly is the proud mother of two children: Vittoria, a member of the Princeton Tap Cats and BAC, and Luciano, a student at UC Irvine.
